I love a good business or design project. Bringing an idea to life or giving an existing system or process a much needed refresh is definitely my jam. Add a good latte and the Brain Food Spotify playlist to the mix, and I’m on a roll!
My work as a Project Pro and Creative Business Specialist varies quite a bit. In any given month, I’m helping clients with content planning and repurposing, new product or service launches, designing a new client experience process, building and managing a partnership program, and much more. To tackle these projects effectively, I’ve developed a system that helps me deliver the desired results for my clients. It’s called my signature A3 Framework.

What is the A3 Framework?
My signature framework got its name from the 3 key phases of my project management process – Assess, Act, and Adapt. When working on any project, I’m always in a rhythm of evaluating the needs of the project and my client (Assess), creating a plan and executing on the deliverables (Act), and then making enhancements as my client’s business evolves (Adapt).
Here’s a fun fact. While developing my signature framework, my business coach, Heather Crabtree, did some research and discovered a similar process called A3 problem solving that was first employed by Toyota. According to Wikipedia, A3 problem solving is “a structured problem-solving and continuous-improvement approach that provides a simple and strict procedure that guides problem solving. The approach typically uses a single sheet of A3-size paper, which is the source of its name.” Heather and I both found it pretty cool and coincidental because of my former business (calligraphy) and my current process for project management.
I’ll dive into each of the 3 key phases of my signature A3 Framework in a later post. For now, here’s an overview of how each phase works.

Assess
This is where my auditing background comes in handy. Before starting any project, I take the time to assess current processes, objectives, and pain points. This helps me gain insight on opportunities for improvement, and create a plan with the end goal in mind.
Act
Once the project plan is approved, it’s all about daily execution and maintenance of the project. I’m taking action, using both my creative and business skills, to free up time for my clients and get projects done. I also created ClickUp templates for all of my framework steps and timelines to keep projects moving seamlessly. My clients receive a summary view (the A3 Report) to track progress at any time.
Adapt
After all project tasks are complete, I keep a pulse on the project to measure performance and help clients quickly adapt as their business evolves or new offerings are added to their business.
Then the cycle begins again. My signature A3 Framework is a continuous process of assessing needs, taking action, and adapting when necessary to achieve optimal results.
